Day 2 - Ninth Day of Christmas
Read Genesis 4:1-26 | Genesis 5:1-32 | 1 Chronicles 1: 1-4 | Genesis 6:1-22

Background | Can you imagine how many times these stories were told before they were written down? How many campfires, worships, courts of rulers, family gatherings, people of God gathering to hear these stories? Check out a good study bible and read about the prehistory, click here
What does the word "Pentateuch" mean?
Genesis is primarily divided into 2 sections: the primeval time told in the stories in chapters 1 - 11 and the rest of the work telling the stories of the early fathers/mothers of the Hebrew/Christian faith.
Reading | Who was the first person murdered? Why? Cain murders Abel over jealousy of their relationship with God; God judge of Cain is laced with punishment and mercy and founding of a tribe; there is a genealogy from Adam to Noah. Would we want to be alive for 500 years and be a father of a new born?
1 Chronicles logs the listing of a small genealogy during this time frame.
The great story of God and Noah and Noah's faith in God to trust the Lord enough to obey God. It is a delightful story with all of the animals. Noah did everything just as God commanded him (Gen 6.22)

Suffrages
Show us your mercy, O Lord;
And grant us your salvation.
Clothe your ministers with righteousness;
Let your people sing with joy.
Give peace, O Lord, in all the world;
For only in you can we live in safety.
Lord, keep this nation under your care;
And guide us in the way of justice and truth.
Let your way be known upon earth;
Your saving health among all nations.
Let not the needy, O Lord, be forgotten;
Nor the hope of the poor be taken away.
Create in us clean hearts, O God;
And sustain us with your Holy Spirit.
