Third Day in Advent - BIT 2016

Based on Morning Office of the Book of Common Prayer

The glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together. Isaiah 40:5

Read |  Ps. 5 6; Ps. 10 11; Amos 3:1–11; 2 Pet. 1:12–21; Matt. 21:12–22 (New Revised Standard Version, Anglicised) - Biblegateway Reading Plan - the second listing of Psalms is for evening prayer.

Readings |
Ps 5 - O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I plead my case to you, and watch. I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house, I will bow down towards your holy temple in awe of you.

Amos 3 - Amos' call to judgement - Hear this word that the Lord has spoken against you, O people of Israel, against the whole family that I brought up out of the land of Egypt.

2 Peter - I tell you things that you have already heard through Christ Jesus; So we have the prophetic message more fully confirmed. You will do well to be attentive to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

Matthew 21 - Jesus cleans out the temple with commerce; where is your heart?; curse the fig tree for not bearing fruit.

How as a disciple of Christ are you bearing fruit in this world?

Prayer |

For the Human Family

O God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us through Jesus your Son: Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
