Read Today Leap Day | Monday | 29 February 2016 Psalm 80; Genesis 44:18-34; 1 Corinthians 7:25-31; Mark 5:21-43
Psalm 80
Restore the nation from its enemies, O God, for they are destroying us; Redeem us.
Genesis 44
Judah pleas before his unknown brother Joseph now governor of Egypt to take him as a slave rather than his brother Benjamin for his elderly father Jacob would die at the news.
1 Corinthians 7
Paul's eschatology assumes Jesus is coming again like the day after tomorrow - very soon - so there is no need for keeping the conventions of culture like marriage for they will all pass away when Jesus comes again. Be ready for the Lord is coming ... on God's timeline.
Mark 5
Two women are healed- the crowds surround Jesus as a healer and is requested by a religious leader to heal his daughter. A woman ill for 12 years with all desperation says to herself if I can touch Jesus I would be healed. She does and is healed, and Jesus asks who? She comes forward and confesses. Jesus smiles and says her faith has made her well and go and live. Jesus is taken to Jarius' daughter though she has died, Jesus, taking a small group of disciples see that the girl is healed and raised from the dead and lives.
Today - Can you trust Jesus to heal you today?  How then will  you serve?

Collect of the Day: The Third Sunday in Lent

Almighty God, you know that we have no power in ourselves to help ourselves: Keep us both outwardly in our bodies and inwardly in our souls, that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
