Today | Thursday | 16 June 2016
Psalm 88
NOAB - the prayer of the near hopeless individual; bleakest petition in the Psalms; the individual cries for help and feels abandon | I cry to you, where are you?; my enemies gather around me, have you abandoned me?; you put me into the pit, can you get me out?; I pray to you in the morning, where are you?...

Numbers 13
The Lord tells Moses to send out spies to Canaan land

Romans 2/3
Paul call for the circumcision of the heart not just a mark on the body; a sign of righteousness; not following rules but being transformed by God.

Matthew 18
Peter - How often should I forgive?; Jesus - as many times as it takes; story of the forgiven slave who does not forgive and showed the same mercy the master showed to him.

For Peace
Eternal God, in whose perfect kingdom no sword is drawn but the sword of righteousness, no strength known but the strength of love: So mightily spread abroad your Spirit, that all peoples may be gathered under the banner of the Prince of Peace, as children of one Father; to whom be dominion and glory, now and for ever. Amen.
O God, the Eternal one who cries with us, we remember Orlando, Columbine, Springfield, and all places where lone gun holders took many lives. Give the souls of the departed peace. Instill a righteous anger in your people to stop gun violence. Provide services to the mentally ill and the wayward. Give those left behind solace and comfort. Call us to be involved and stop the madness. Amen
