Psalm 80
Psalm from the people of Israel asking for restoration and repentance; Exodus is pictured as a vine that needs to be tended by God in a new land; why do you (God) let them (the enemy) pick the fruit freely (punish us) from the vine (Israel)?; bless our ruler selected by you (God); we shall be saved.

Acts 18
Paul continues his missionary journey and lands in Corinth and stays with some believers - Pontius and Priscilla; they are tentmakers like Paul so that Paul earns his living there; Jews reject what Paul brings in the Word so he moves to the Gentiles who receive the Word gratefully; Paul receives a vision from God that he will be protected so preach with boldness; he says there about a year and half.

Luke 3
At a particular moment in history, God saved the creation by sending John out to the wilderness to baptize; this is the fulfillment of a prophecy of the Messiah by Isaiah; John yells at the crowd of sinners, “how did you show up to repent?”; what do we do? Share what you have and be fair in your dealings with people.

Prayer
General Thanksgiving
Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all whom you have made. We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages. Amen.
