Psalm 146
Hallelujah!
Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord forever!
Happy are those that have a relationship with God.
God …
- Has set the prisoner free
- Heals the blind
- Lift up the down
- Loves the righteous
- Loves the stranger
- sustains the widow and orphan
I Corinthians 4
Be wise in Christ and seek examples of the faith like your fathers - Paul says we apostles have been laughed at and persecuted for the sake of you who are young in the faith.
Matthew 15
Jesus meets a frantic Canaanite woman with a sick daughter crying please heal her; Jesus says my calling is not with you but the people of God of Israel and calls her a dog (culturally acceptable at that time) and she showing great faith says even the dogs get crumbs from the table; Jesus smiles and says her faith is great and her daughter is healed.
Prayers
Collect of the Day: proper 23
Lord, we pray that your grace may always precede and follow us, that we may continually be given to good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
For Mission
Almighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of your faithful people is governed and sanctified: Receive our supplications and prayers which we offer before you for all members of your holy Church, that in their vocation and ministry they may truly and devoutly serve you; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
