Week after the 20th Sunday after Pentecost - Proper 22

Today |
Psalm 119: 145-176
Answer me, I plea to you, O Lord;
I will keep your decrees;
I mediate on your promises;
You are near and at hand, O Lord;
All your commandments are true and last forever;
Redeem me;
Great is your compassion and mercy, O Lord;
Preserve me in your mercy;
I pray seven times per day.
Glory to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, shall be forever. Amen
Acts 23
The Tribune assembles an army to protect Paul from 40 assassins as Paul is taken to Gov. Felix; the force took Paul to Caesarea and he was under guard in Herod’s palace.
Luke 7
John’s disciples were sent by Jesus to ask, “Are you the one?”
Jesus answers from the prophecy of how the Messiah would act -
The blind see,
Lame walk,
Deaf hear,
Dead raised,
The poor hear good news.
As they went away, Jesus tells those gathered of the greatness of John as a prophet and asks why did they think bad of him as they do Jesus?
Prayers
Collect of the Day: proper 22
Almighty and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we to pray, and to give more than we either desire or deserve: Pour upon us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving us those things of which our conscience is afraid, and giving us those good things for which we are not worthy to ask, except through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ our Savior; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
For Mission
Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hard wood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name. Amen.

Good Sermon for your spiritual uplift.
