Psalm 107
God blesses the people no matter when in history it happened;
God blesses the people no matter when in history it happened;
God protects the poor, gives mercy, and the wicked will suffer.
James 5
Suffering? Pray; Cheerful? Sing praises; Ill? Call upon the Church; Be forgiven; Pray at all times!
Luke 18
Jesus told this parable to people who were self-righteous; A Pharisee was listing all his accomplishments; a tax collector asked for mercy as a sinner and was forgiven.
Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
For Mission
Almighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of your faithful people is governed and sanctified: Receive our supplications and prayers which we offer before you for all members of your holy Church, that in their vocation and ministry they may truly and devoutly serve you; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
A Collect for Guidance
Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
