Thursday of the First Week in Advent

The glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together. Isaiah 40:5

Pray this way or this way or this way.

Psalm 18 | A royal thanksgiving psalm; the ruler is saved and then reflects on his relationship with God;
I love you strength, O Lord
I trust you,
I praise you,
Even when death surrounds me - you are there,
God listens to me and gives me peace
God is my support in all situations.

1 Thessalonians 3
Paul continues with his longing to visit them and hearing Timothy’s good report on their ministry. They did well despite the persecutions they faced.

Luke 20
A group of religious leaders (Sadducees) came to Jesus and quizzed him on the resurrection; he explained that they did not understand the transformation that will happen - things will not be like they are here but new.

Collect of the Day: The First Sunday of Advent
Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life in which your Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility; that in the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge both the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
