Probably written just prior to the destruction of the Temple (uprising in 68 a.d.) in 70 a.d. Mark goes to explain John the Baptist as the fulfillment of the prophecy of Isaiah. (there is no birth of Jesus told here), Jesus is baptized, the heavenly declaration, 40 days in the wilderness with temptation, wild beasts, and angel. Collect of the Day: The First Sunday after the Epiphany
Father in heaven, who at the baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan proclaimed him your beloved Son and anointed him with the Holy Spirit: Grant that all who are baptized into his Name may keep the covenant they have made, and boldly confess him as Lord and Savior; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

For Mission

Almighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of your faithful people is governed and sanctified: Receive our supplications and prayers which we offer before you for all members of your holy Church, that in their vocation and ministry they may truly and devoutly serve you; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

For the Weather and its Effect
Creator God, you made the earth and all that is in it; protect those that are forced by circumstance or work to be out in bad weather; guard them and bring them home safely. In the name of Jesus! Amen.
