Who is Jesus? The writer explains that Jesus was the Son of the Father from the beginning.
God’s word endures forever!
John 1 | Background
In a short five verse, John places Jesus as the eternal word, the creative forces with God since the beginning;
The writer then moves to John the Baptist who says he is not the Messiah and points to Jesus as the bringer of the Holy Spirit as told to John by God.

Collect of the Day: The First Sunday after the Epiphany
Father in heaven, who at the baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan proclaimed him your beloved Son and anointed him with the Holy Spirit: Grant that all who are baptized into his Name may keep the covenant they have made, and boldly confess him as Lord and Savior; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

For Mission

Almighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of your faithful people is governed and sanctified: Receive our supplications and prayers which we offer before you for all members of your holy Church, that in their vocation and ministry they may truly and devoutly serve you; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
