Readings

Psalm 71 | Background
I take refuge in you;
Hear me and be my foundation;
Deliver me from evil;
Let me praise the Lord!
Keep me faithful;
I am forsaken so come and help me.
I will remember all the things you have done for me even from my youth.
Let me praise the Lord!

Romans 14
Welcome those who are weak in faith;
Don’t worry how they practice their faith;
They do honor the Lord;
We don’t live to ourselves but for the Lord;
Don’t judge or you will be judged by God;

Luke 8 | Background
Jesus and the disciples arrived in a town and were greeted with a man with many demons called Legion; the demons asked to be moved to the swine; the people found the man healed by Jesus; they asked him to leave because of his power; the man who was healed was commissioned as an evangelist in his hometown.

Today | Collect of the Day: Fifth Sunday of Easter
Almighty God, whom truly to know is everlasting life: Grant us so perfectly to know your Son Jesus Christ to be the way, the truth, and the life, that we may steadfastly follow his steps in the way that leads to eternal life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

For Mission
Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hardwood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name. Amen.

A Collect for Guidance

Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
