The earth is the Lord’s for he made it: O come, let us adore him.| BCP p. 44

Readings

Psalm 80 | Background
Restore us - the community cries -and then goes into the telling of the salvation story for God to hear to remind all that God has done for the people.

Acts 1 | Background
We are in volume #2 of Luke’s telling of the salvation story… first Jesus, then the Ascension, then the apostles including some women are devoted to a life of prayer until the coming of the Holy Spirit.

Luke 20 | Backgroud
Jesus - tells a bizarre parable where renters revolt against all of the owner of the vineyard agents even to his Son whom they kill (could allude to the crucifixion); the owner comes and kills the renters. All who hear are shocked; The stone that was rejected becomes the chief cornerstone. (Jesus is this rock that the Body is built upon).

Today | Collect of the Day: Pentecost 2 | Proper 6*
Keep, O Lord, your household the Church in your steadfast faith and love, that through your grace we may proclaim your truth with boldness, and minister your justice with compassion; for the sake of our Savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

For Mission

Almighty and everlasting God,
by whose Spirit the whole body of your faithful people
is governed and sanctified:
Receive our supplications and prayers
which we offer before you for
all members of your holy Church,
that in their vocation and ministry
they may truly and devoutly serve you;
through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

For Social Justice

Grant, O God, that your holy and life-giving Spirit may so move every human heart, that barriers which divide us may crumble, suspicions disappear, and hatreds cease; that our divisions being healed, we may live in justice and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
