Psalm 101| Background
I will show signs of mercy and justice;
I will be sincere - when will you come, O Lord;
I will hang out with the righteous alone.

Acts 6 |
The creation of the diaconate; Stephen was among the seven the selected;
He spoke with boldness; they arrested him and people spoke badly against him.
His serenity was like that of an angel.

Luke 22 |
The hour came for the Passover and Jesus sat with his disciples; he took a cup and bread - this is my blood and body; someone sitting with them will betray Jesus and the disciples wondered about this.

Collect of the Day: Proper 7

O Lord, make us have perpetual love and reverence for your holy Name, for you never fail to help and govern those whom you have set upon the sure foundation of your loving-kindness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

For Mission
Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hard wood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name. Amen.

A Collect for the Renewal of Life

O God, the King eternal,
who divides the day from the night
and turns the shadow of death into the morning:
Drive far from us all wrong desires,
incline our hearts to keep your law,
and guide our feet into the way of peace;
that, having done your will with cheerfulness while it was day,
we may, when night comes,
rejoice to give you thanks;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

* Propers are the readings based on a calendar in the Book of Common Prayer. Proper 6, Year A is the Sunday closest to June 15 based on the calendar in the BCP.
