Wednesday - Pentecost 4 - Proper 8

Third glass window in the south wall (counting from west to east), depicting the denial of Saint Peter: “Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.” This window was manufactured by the stained glass workshop Carmel du Mans under the direction of Eugène Hucher (1814–1889) and his son Ferdinand Hucher (1850–1903) – see signature Fab du Carmel du Mans (lower left corner), Hucher et Fils(lower right corner). The window was donated, see notice at its centre bottom: Don de Mr et Me Drouet et de la famille Quentin.

Today | Pentecost 4| Proper 8*
Collect for the Day
Almighty God, you have built your Church upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone: Grant us so to be joined together in unity of spirit by their teaching, that we may be made a holy temple acceptable to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen
For Mission
Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hard wood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name. Amen.
For the Human Family
O God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us through Jesus your Son: Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
