Epiphany

From the rising of the sun to its setting my Name shall be great among the nations,
and in every place incense shall be offered to my Name, and a pure offering; for my
Name shall be great among the nations, says the Lord of Hosts. Malachi 1:11 | BCP p. 106

Readings
Today | Wednesday | 7 February  2017 |
Ps. 119:97-120 & 81, 82 Gen. 27:1-29 Rom. 12:1-8 John 8:12-20

Psalm 119
The largest psalm talks about the love of the law and the teaching of God that
pertains to all times in life; Your degrees make me wise and do not do evil;
You have taught me and I understand; I am determined to keep your ways.

Romans 12
Paul calls the faithful in Roman to right living in terms of a living sacrifice to God;
Be transformed in your mind to know God’s ways as God has called you; we
are one body and called to do what God wants us to do.

John 8
At the Feast of Tabernacles, Jesus and God gives testimony to the light; the people
by him are asking how and by what authority can Jesus give testimony;
Jesus stands with God. You need two witnesses in this testimony as in Hebrew legal practice of the day.

Tomorrow | Ps. [83] or 146, 147 & 85, 86 Gen. 27:30-45 Rom. 12:9-21
John 8:21-32

Prayers and Intercessions | Mission St Clare | Book of Common Prayer
Epiphany 5 - Year B (Mark)

Collect for the Day:
Set us free, O God, from the bondage of our sins,
and give us the liberty of that abundant life which
you have made known to us in your Son our Savior Jesus Christ;
who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever. Amen.

For Mission
O God and Father of all, whom the whole heavens adore:
Let the whole earth also worship you, all nations obey you, all tongues
confess and bless you, and men and women everywhere love you and
serve you in peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Collect for Peace

O God, you have bound us together in a common life.
Help us, in the midst of our struggles for justice and truth,
to confront one another without hatred or bitterness,
and to work together with mutual forbearance and respect;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (Peace in Times of Conflict, p. 824)
