Ps. 95* & 22 & 141, 143:1-11(12) Exod. 9:13-35 2 Cor. 4:1-12
Mark 10:32-45
Psalm 22
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me;
My ancestors were heard from You;
But I am teased - where is his/her God;
My enemies are going to swallowed up;
They hang me up - they cast lots for my robes
Save me and I will declare you among the Church:
Praise the Lord - God hears all who worships God;
The entire creation shall come to the Lord;
I and my future generations will sing praise to God.
(one of the words of the Cross when Jesus cried out.
But the tone comes back to faith in God)
2 Corinthians 4
Paul - Prophecy will build up the Church; tongues are
for the individual - no one will know what you are saying -
I will not understand them - so strive for gifts that build up
the Church.
Mark 10
Jesus again predicts his suffering and death and resurrection;
James and John make a power play and Jesus says they
do not know what they are asking; the other disciples are mad;
Jesus said if you want to lead the Church you much serve - last will
be first and the first last. (Jesus dumps the traditional form
of leadership and power and builds a Kingdom of service and love.)

Lent - Year B (Mark)
Opening Sentence-
Jesus said,” If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself
and take up his cross and follow me.” Mark 8:34 | BCP p. 76
Collect for the Day:
Almighty God, you alone can bring into order the unruly wills and affections of sinners:
Grant your people grace to love what you command and desire what you promise;
that, among the swift and varied changes of the world, our hearts may surely there
be fixed where true joys are to be found; through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
For Mission
Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love
on the hardwood of the cross that everyone might come
within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us
in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love,
may bring those who do not know you to the
knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name. Amen.
For TravelersLord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love
on the hardwood of the cross that everyone might come
within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us
in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love,
may bring those who do not know you to the
knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name. Amen.
O God, our heavenly Father, whose glory fills the whole creation,
and whose presence we find wherever we go: Preserve those who
travel, in particular (name); surround them with your loving care;
protect them from every danger; and bring them in safety to their
journey's end; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
