Readings | Biblegateway.com | Friday
Ps 40, 54 & 51 | Eccles. 5:1-7 | Gal. 3:15-22 | Matt. 14:22-36

Psalm 40 | Background -
I waited for the Lord to rescue me and God did;
God put a new song in my heart and great things will happen;
There is no one like God and I will do your will…
You are the Lord and your love and faithfulness lasts forever.

Galatians 3 | Background
The law did not come through the promise of God; But it came
through faith in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Matthew 14 |
Jesus made the disciples go to the boat and went off to pray in
the mountain; Jesus came to them walking on the water; Peter
went to him on the water - Peter became afraid - Jesus rescued him.

A Thought for the Disciple -
We are called by God to build up the Kingdom of God in all its forms;
Jesus is always there to rescue us even when we lose faith and sink;
Have faith and move the Kingdom forward. Lighten the darkness.

Prayers and Intercessions
Collect for Proper 4 Year B
O God, your never-failing providence sets in order all things both in heaven and earth: Put away from us, we entreat you, all hurtful things, and give us those things which are profitable for us; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who l ives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
A Collect for Guidance
Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
For Creation
We give you thanks, most gracious God, for the beauty of earth and sky
and sea; for the richness of mountains, plains, and rivers; for the songs of
birds and the loveliness of flowers. We praise you for these good gifts,
and pray that we may safeguard them for our posterity. Grant that we
may continue to grow in our grateful enjoyment of your abundant
creation, to the honor and glory of your Name, now and forever. Amen

Glory to God whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than
we can ask or imagine: Glory to him from generation to generation in
the Church, and in Christ Jesus for ever and ever. Amen.
