My Quick Bible Study & Prayers Based on
Book of Common Prayer Daily Office Readings
in the Pentecost Season

Opening Sentence |
You are no longer strangers and sojourners, but fellow
citizens with the saints and members of the household
of God. | Ephesians 2:19| BCP p. 78 |

Daily Office Prayers |

Readings | Biblegateway.com |
Friday
Psalm 40, 54 & 51
Ecclus. 34:1-8, 18-22
Rev. 13:1-10
Luke 12:13-31

Psalm 40 | A thanksgiving and prayer |
I waited patiently for the Lord;
God inclined to me and heard my cry;
God put a new song in my heart;
Happy are those that love the Lord!
Deliver me at all times - particularly now!
Let all say “Great is the Lord”!

Revelation 13 | more images in cryptic language |
Seems to be an illusion of the rulers of the Roman Empire;
The beast was the empire and its rulers;
This is a call for endurance and faith of the saints.

Luke 12 |
Someone asked Jesus to settle his brother’s estate -
Don’t store up treasures for themselves and not God.
He continues with picture stories - birds take care of
themselves - God will take care of you. Do not worry
About eating, or possession but seek God first and
everything shall be given to you.
Tomorrow |
Saturday
Psalm 75, 76 & 23,27
Ecclus. 51:1-12

Prayers and Intercessions
Collect of the Day:
Almighty and everlasting God, increase in us the gifts of faith, hope,
and charity; and, that we may obtain what you promise, make us love
what you command; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
(Proper 25- Year B)

For Mission
O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the
earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those
who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that people
everywhere may seek after you and find you; bring the nations
into your fold; pour out your Spirit upon all flesh, and hasten
the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Collect for Peace
O God, the author of peace and lover of concord, to know
you is eternal life and to serve you is perfect freedom:
Defend us, your humble servants, in all assaults of our
enemies; that we, surely trusting in your defense, may not
fear the power of any adversaries; through the might of
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
A Prayer Attributed to St. Francis
Lord, make us instruments of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is discord, union;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

AR |
May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing
through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
