Psalm 88 | A prayer of a near hopeless individual
My soul is full of troubles and I am weary to my bones;
Hear my prayer - Can you hear me? I am desperate!
Give me your light and peace - Are you there?

James 1 | Background
Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is
from above from the Father of the light; be quick to listen,
slow to anger and speak; be doers of the Word and no just
hearers; watch how you speak as not to defile God.

Luke 16 |
Jesus tells of a dishonest manager who knew he was going
to be fired settled all of his owner’s debts so that the debtors
would owe him when he did not have a job. Believers should
do things that ensure the future in heaven.

Prayers and Intercessions
Collect of the Day:
O God, whose blessed Son came into the world that he might
destroy the works of the devil and make us children of God
and heirs of eternal life: Grant that, having this hope, we may
purify ourselves as he is pure; that, when he comes again with
power and great glory, we may be made like him in his
eternal and glorious kingdom; where he lives and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Amen.
(Proper 27 - Year B)

For Mission
O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the
earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those
who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that people
everywhere may seek after you and find you; bring the nations
into your fold; pour out your Spirit upon all flesh, and hasten
the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Collect for Peace
O God, the author of peace and lover of concord, to know
you is eternal life and to serve you is perfect freedom:
Defend us, your humble servants, in all assaults of our
enemies; that we, surely trusting in your defense, may not
fear the power of any adversaries; through the might of
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
For the Unemployed
Heavenly Father, we remember before you those who suffer
want and anxiety from lack of work. Guide the people of this
land so to use our public and private wealth that all may find
suitable and fulfilling employment, and receive just payment
for their labor; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

AR |
May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing
through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
