God laughs from heaven when earthy rulers think they
are in charge; The Lord rules all things - rulers come to
God’s throne with fear and trembling; Happy are they that
follow God.

Matthew 18 |
Jesus teaches -
Who is great? The little child with faith.
Tempted? Cut away what tempts you and live righteously.

Prayers and Intercessions
Collect of the Day: The Holy Innocents
We remember today, O God, the slaughter of the holy innocents
of Bethlehem by King Herod. Receive, we pray, into the arms of
your mercy all innocent victims; and by your great might frustrate
the designs of evil tyrants and establish your rule of justice, love,
and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

For Mission
O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the
earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those
who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that people
everywhere may seek after you and find you; bring the nations
into your fold; pour out your Spirit upon all flesh, and hasten
the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
A Prayer Attributed to St. Francis
Lord, make us instruments of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is discord, union;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing
through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
