Today’s Reading

1/27/2019     Day 27   Leviticus 1:1 - 4:49

Reflection:
Background on Leviticus from a Jewish perspective.

Leviticus gives the laws and regulations for worship there, including instructions on ceremonial cleanness, moral laws, holy days, the sabbath year and the Year of Jubilee. These laws were given, at least for the most part, during the year that Israel camped at Mount Sinai, when God directed Moses in organizing Israel's worship, government and military forces.

The Five Main Offerings (chs. 1-7)
  • The Burnt Offering (ch. 1)
  • The Grain Offering (ch. 2)
  • The Fellowship Offering (ch. 3)
  • The Sin Offering (4:1;5:13)         Source

Leviticus can be termed to some that it is like reading a law book
with many rules and regulations of all matters of life. I read it asking
“How does God want me to live?” The focus of this section is not only
the how but also the way to receive redemption.

Meditation/Contemplate:
How do I live to include God in my life in the context of this time of
history? Where is God in this secular time?

Prayer:
Be with me, O Eternal God, on the path that you lead me. Amen
