Day 4 - Babel

Ludwig Valcanbrosh - Tower of Babel

My Mini-Bible Study for 2019
Read the Bible in a Year
Using The NRSV Daily Bible

Today’s Reading
1/4/2019 Day 4 Genesis 9:18 - 11:32

Reflection
The genealogies that are listed in Genesis refer not only to a family
line but also the land that they inhabited in the middle east. Here
is a guess from the NOAB5 p. 23. Might have to play with the picture
in order to see the detail. <see Source page>

Tower of Babel is the story answering the question why are there so
many languages?

Meditation:
What will happen to us as our languages will be instantly translated
by our phones and computers making us understand one another?
Will we listen to each other?

Prayer:
Lord, my ears hear you knocking today. Steer me away from the
over-emphasis on what I might accomplish and steer me toward
what you would have me do. Your will be done and not mine. Amen

Canticle 19 The Song of the Redeemed

Revelation 15:3-4

Magna et mirabilia

O ruler of the universe, Lord God,
great deeds are they that you have done,*
surpassing human understanding.
Your ways are ways of righteousness and truth,*
O King of all the ages
Who can fail to do you homage, Lord
and sing the praises of your Name
for you only are the Holy One.
All nations will draw near and fall down before you
because your just and holy works have been revealed.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
