Today’s Reading

2/26/2019     Day 57   Judges 3:7 - 5:31

Reflection:
Background by Center of Biblical Studies. Background by
Chabad.org.  Gregory Mobley writes in NOAVB5 -
Structure-
1:1- 2:5 | Days after Joshua; tribal fortunes against Canaanites;
seems to have a bias toward Judah (southern kingdom)
Judges are appointed; story of Othniel - people worshipping the
Baals & Othniel brings them back; Ehud- a deliverer, kills the ruler,
He takes off; Shamgar - foreign mercenary; Deborah and Barak - only
female judge, palace intrigue, victory, Deborah sings.
Meditation/Contemplate:
How do you help the people to understand God?

Prayer:
Let the examples of the Judges give us an examples of faith. Amen

O Lord, you have taught us that without love whatever we do
is worth nothing: Send your Holy Spirit and pour into our hearts
your greatest gift, which is love, the true bond of peace and of
all virtue, without which whoever lives is accounted dead
before you. Grant this for the sake of your only Son Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God,
now and forever. Amen. (BCP)
