Today’s Reading

3/12/2019     Day 71 1 Samuel 25:1 - 28:25

Reflection:

Background by Center of Biblical Studies. Background by
Chabad.org
David is running around the wilderness while he attempts to escape
Saul. David is shown here with limited resources and Saul a mighty
army but God is with David. David sneaks into Saul’s camp and does
not kill him and takes his spear instead. Saul asks forgiveness but not
really; he goes to a medium and tries to take with Samuel and does
not hear what he wants to hear. David escapes to the Philistines.
Meditation/Contemplate:

What is God’s will for you that you are refusing to hear?

Prayer:
O Lord our Governor, whose glory is in all the world: We commend
this nation to thy merciful care, that, being guided by thy Providence,
we may dwell secure in thy peace. Grant to the President of the United
States, the Governor of this State (or Commonwealth), and to all in
authority, wisdom and strength to know and to do thy will. Fill them
with the love of truth and righteousness, and make them ever mindful
of their calling to serve this people in thy fear; through Jesus Christ our
Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God,
world without end. Amen. (BCP)

Almighty and everlasting God, you hate nothing you have made and
forgive the sins of all who are penitent: Create and make in us new and
contrite hearts, that we, worthily lamenting our sins and
acknowledging our wretchedness, may obtain of you, the God of all
mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our
Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God,
forever and ever. Amen. (BCP)
