The separation between 1 Sam and 2 Sam happened with the
writing of the Septuagint (LXX) [Latin translation]. The two are
separated at the point of the death of Saul.

It is divided
Vs 1:1 - 5:5 | death of Saul - David becomes king of Judah - civil war
begins

Vs 5:6 - 12:31 | David annexation of Jerusalem, interest in
building a temple, promise of a dynasty

chapters 13-20 | Absalom’s revolt

Chapter  21- 24 | appendix, lists, poems, etc.

Almighty and everlasting God, you hate nothing you have made and
forgive the sins of all who are penitent: Create and make in us new and
