4/25/2019     Day 115 Job 1:1 – 5:27

Reflection |
Today
The prologue (1:1 - 2:13)
This work of fiction is a dialog with various characters dealing
with the problem of God and people suffering. Job is not an Israelite.
Job is wealthy and faithful to God. In the heavenly court, Satan challenges God that Job will not be faithful if everything is taken away
from him. God says he is wrong. Job is afflicted.
Chapter 3 - Job laments on a dung heap and wonders at his plight.
Chapter 4/5 - Eliphaz recommends that Job confess his sin and appeals to God’s mercy. Job is corrected by God.

Meditation/Contemplate:
How do we ask for forgiveness for lack of faith during times of
suffering?
Prayer:
O Gracious God, I confess that it’s difficult to have a spirit of praise
during times of loss. Lead me to a truer understanding of your
Goodness and teach me how to live in the midst of goodness and
depravity.  Amen.

Almighty and everlasting God, who in the Paschal mystery established
the new covenant of reconciliation: Grant that all who have been
reborn into the fellowship of Christ's Body may show forth in their lives
what they profess by their faith; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who
lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and
ever. Amen.
