Today’s Reading

6/18/2019      Day 168 Proverbs 19:1 – 20:30

Reflection |
Today
Today’s readings continue with good sayings for the walk
of life:
Desire without knowledge is not good, …

To get wisdom is to love oneself; to keep understanding is to
prosper.
Whoever is kind to the poor lends to God, and will be repaid
in full.
Chapter 20 seems to list out things that can cause trouble -
Wine, anger, laziness, not loyal, diverse weights, loving sleep,
gold, usury, taking things that are owned by strangers, deceit,
Cursing parents, etc. Do the path of right.
(NOAB5 notes)
Background |
A proverb is a statement of apparent truth that is based on
human experience and has endured over time. Attributed to
King Solomon but the composition of the book happened over
Centuries. Wisdom is a central character of the book along with
a woman of substance. The beauty of the book is that you can
focus on one verse or read the entire book as a literary whole.

Personal opinion.

Almighty and everlasting God, you have given to us your servants
grace, by the confession of true faith, to acknowledge the glory
of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of your divine Majesty to
worship the Unity: Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship,
and bring us, at last, to see you in your one and eternal glory,
O Father; who with the Son and the Holy Spirit live and reign,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.
