7/3/2019     Day 184 Isaiah 8:1 – 11:16

Reflection |
Today -
Chapter 5 - Announcement of judgment against Israel and Judah
Stop acting bad - look to God - Therefore the anger of God was kindled.
Chapter 6 - Isaiah sees God on the heavenly throne - Sent to talk to
Israel and judah - Go and say to them … judgement.
Chapter 7 - Isaiah speaks to the King - you will be attacked and the
land will be a wasteland
Chapter 8 - Isaiah speaks about the birth of his son comparing it to
how God’s judgement will happen. And then David’s line will be
Restored and Assyria will fall
Chapter 9 - The beautiful poem prediction of a great leader born -
Vs 2-7 - could be an allusion to Christ/Messiah/Son of God - God will
be victorious - warning against leaders of Israel.
Chapter 10 - Another poem on the destruction of Assyria and David
restoration - They will lean on the Holy One.
Chapter 11 - The Holy One coming is described of the Lord
will rest upon him; the spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel, might,
knowledge, the fear of the Lord. Things will be different!

Meditation/Contemplate |
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given. And His name will
be Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal One, Prince of Peace.
And his authority will grow continuously and there will be peace
forever.
Prayer |
O God, let me learn faith from your prophets of old.  Amen.

Collect -

Almighty God, you have built your Church upon the foundation of the
apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief
cornerstone: Grant us so to be joined together in unity of spirit by their
teaching, that we may be made a holy temple acceptable to you;
through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the
Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
