Reflection |

Today -  

Chapter 1 -  Jeremiah’s call by God and commission;
God gives him words; predicts the tribes of the North coming
to take Judah into exile. God assures Jeremiah that God is
with him.

Chapter 2 - God - why did you forget me? Look what I did for you.
Why have you rebelled against the Lord? I am bringing judgment.

Chapter 3 - Israel is like an unfaithful wife; repent; youth have not
obeyed the word of the Lord.

Chapter 4 - return to the Lord! Judah will be invaded. God cries for
the nation.

Chapter 5 - They have not listened to Me. You will lose the nation
Because of your faithlessness; 

Chapter 6 - flee for safety! The day of woe is coming! They have
Rejected God.

Chapter 7 - Jeremiah declares God’s judgment; people disobedience

Chapter 8 - They are blind and perverse. Jeremiah mourns for the
people.

the golden age of King Josiah but also the exile to Babylon. Tone
tends to be on the judgemental side.

A Prayer Attributed to St. Francis

Lord, make us instruments of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is discord, union;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

Grant that we may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love. 

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
