Day 253 - Jesus teaches disciples

Today’s Reading

9/10/2019     Day 253 Matthew 19:1 – 20:34

Reflection |
Today -
Chapter 19 -Jesus and the disciples have moved
from Galilee to Judea. Jesus teaches hard saying about divorce, little children -Welcome them, eternal life - obey the law,
give everything to others, if you have served you will be saved.
Chapter 20 - Jesus does storytelling- whoever works in the Kingdom
will be saved regardless of when they came. Jesus tells the
Disciples that he is going to Jerusalem to get killed but in three days
will rise again to live. A mother asks for preference on leadership
in the Kingdom - Jesus says he can’t give that -> not in his
Power. Caused some dissent with other disciples. Can you do
what I am to do? Then Jesus heals.
The disciples are hearing teaching that they will not fully understand
after the resurrection. Today in the post-resurrection time we are
called to live fully with God in ministry that God’s calls us to do. The
ministry of Jesus was healing, suffering, teaching, dieing, and rising
so that we would do the same. The basic ministry of a post-resurrection
disciple is to worship, pray, find out what God is calling you to do, do it
in the very presence of God who is always with us. Everyone’s calling
will be different for it is at the whimsical joy of God what we are called to do and it will be perfect just for the individual in the company of God.

Emmanuel - God is with us!

Collect for Pentecost 13
Grant us, O Lord, to trust in you with all our hearts; for,
as you always resist the proud who confide in their own
strength, so you never forsake those who make their
boast of your mercy; through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever. Amen
We pray for those seeking employment or their next venture in life - walking with God - hearing the Call. Amen
