Today’s Reading

9/20/2019     Day 263 Mark 9:1 – 10:45

Reflection |
Today -
Peter, James, and John experience Moses, Elijah, God, and
Jesus showing up on the mountain top - This is my Son, the
Beloved - listen to him. (Transfiguration). Don’t tell anyone
about this until after the Resurrection. Elijah coming? He did
come.
It always amazes me when Jesus comes off of the mountain -
He heals. We have a healing/forgiving/teaching/prayer ministry like
Jesus.
Jesus' second prediction of his death and resurrection. The disciples
do not understand Jesus’ teaching about this. So when Jesus dies
who is going to take over?  The disciples get caught talking about this.
You have to be a servant to all in order to lead.
IF something causes you to sin (broken relationship with God or
loving neighbor in service) - get rid of it!
Jesus in dealing with religious leadership always goes for the
higher conduct - the transformation of the heart, not tradition.

Everyone, even children, is allowed into the Kingdom of God.
Eternal Life - focus on God and faith; Who can get it? Everyone!
You will give up everything to follow God.
The gospel of Mark takes Jesus’ ministry to the north and then
in chapter 8 Jesus heads to Jerusalem to his arrest, death, and
resurrection as he is teaching the disciples along the way.
In 10:32 is Jesus’ third prediction about the Passion. James and
John make a move to lead the movement; Jesus says not for him
to decide - other disciples get mad - Jesus says In the Kingdom of God your power is only centered in relationship with God and continuous
service to our neighbors. After this Jesus heals. Your faith has made
you well.
The circle of Jesus’ ministry is prayer- teaching - healing/forgiveness/
service - and then repeats. He discloses all things necessary.

Collect for Proper 19 / Pentecost 14
O God, because without you we are not able to please you,
mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit may in all things direct
and rule our hearts; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives
and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God,
now and forever. Amen

Pray for those seeking God’s calling for their next

Wonders that God give us continuously.
Amen.
