Reflection |

Today -

The ministry of Jesus Christ begins with the clarion cry
of the Baptist to the people of God - Repent - Get Ready!
This message is based on the prophet’s call (Isaiah).

John's “table setting” ministry prepares the people for Jesus.
John gets mad when even sinners come for redemption.
John declares that he is the forerunner and not the message.

Jesus was about 30 years old when he started the ministry
And was also baptized like all others. Luke has a genealogy
of Jesus to tracks back through Joseph, through David, to
Abraham then Noah to Adam to God.

Jesus filled with the Holy Spirit - goes into the wilderness like
the people of Israel and was tempted - goes into ministry by
going to synagogues and being a guest preacher/teacher.
Hometown did not like his message because they could not
separate who he is from who he was.

Luke probably had a copy of Gospel of Mark and a lost book
called the Sayings of Jesus (Q is what scholars call it).
