Today’s Reading -

10/9/2019       Day 282 Luke 22:1 – 71
10/10/2019     Day 283 Luke 23:1 – 56

Reflection |
Today -
Chapter 22 - Jesus has his last meal with his disciples - the
Passover - institutes the Lord’s Supper/Holy Communion/
Eucharist/Mass as celebrated in the universal Church since
that day; Who is the greatest? The least!; You will be with
me on the last day. I will be betrayed by you. Jesus prayed
at the Mount of Olives; he was betrayed by Judas and arrested.
Tried by the High Priest (religion), denied by Peter, tried by
religious leaders - convicted of blasphemy.
Chapter 23 - Jesus is brought before Pilate (government)-
Pilate does not understand why this person should be put
to death but goes with the crowd (politician), sent to Herod
(Jewish ruler) and convicted again. The crowd declares him
“Guilty” of a capital crime and is set to be killed by crucifixion.
Simon carried his cross, executed with other criminals as
the people watched and the leaders teased him. Jesus suffers
for three hours then dies
- a man of God takes his body and
lays him in a tomb. The women came and prepared to prepare
His body but waited until after the Sabbath. The tomb
was sealed with a stone.

Prayer today ->

Collect of the Day: Pentecost, proper 21
O God, you declare your
almighty power chiefly in
showing mercy and pity: Grant
us the fullness of your grace,
that we, running to obtain your
promises, may become
partakers of your heavenly
treasure; through Jesus Christ
our Lord, who lives and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.
Amen.

Pray for those seeking God’s calling for their next
venture in life. May we give thanks for all God’s gifts and
Wonders that God gives us continuously.
Amen.
