11/14/2019     Day 318 1 Corinthians 13:1 - 16:24

Reflection |

Today -

Chapter 13 - Paul’s greatest writing on the love of God to humanity
and humanity to God - ἀγάπην (agape). I can gain everything, have
Everything and do everything but do not have the love of God and my
neighbor, I have nothing in this life. God always loves us and we are beloved of God and others need to know they are beloved of God.

Chapter 14 - Prophecy vs speaking in tongues - prophecy advances
the Church more but the individual benefits from speaking in tongues
(Spirit-inspired speech directed to the Divine)

Chapter 15 - Paul delineates his proof for the resurrection of the dead.
We are the fruits of that resurrection and eternal life is now.

Chapter 16 - Paul writes some actions for the church - each week put
aside something you earn for the advancement of the gospel/church.
We will be visiting you. Keep alert, stand firm in your faith, be
courageous, be strong. Let all you do be done in love.

established Christian church who has lost their way and
needs some corrective directions from Paul. Fractions develop
between new converts pointing to teachers rather than God.
Paul biggest concern is the unity of the Church there.

Loving God, dissolve the barriers of suspicion that divide
    us from one another.

Fill us with your love that casts out fear.
Clothe us in your light and grace, that we may be agents
    of hope and encouragement for those that despair and
  have lost their way.

Help us each to find our own particular way in which to 

    proclaim the good news of your saving love in our daily

    life and work.
We pray for our government and for our leaders at every 

    level of authority, that they may be strengthened to heal

    the structures that bruise your people.

 God, hear our prayer.
