Today’s Reading -

11/25/2019     Day 329 Philippians 1:1 - 2:30

Reflection |
Today -
I thank my God every time I remember you.
Live your life in a manner that is worthy of your faith.

Paul is thankful for the suffering; appeals for
unity in the Church for the sake of the self-emptying
of Jesus Christ.
Do all things without murmuring and arguing so that you
are blameless and innocent.
Timothy and Epaphroditus are examples of the faith.

Background |
Background by the Center of Biblical Studies.
More Philippians by Mark Powell
According to Carolyn Osiek (NOAB5 notes), Philippians is
one of the richest letters of Paul with little denial that Paul
wrote it. Likely written in prison while in Ephesus in the mid-50s
c.e. Paul is not sure of his fate in prison. The primary theme is
being a Christian in a time of suffering (both Paul and Jesus
as examples).

Loving God, dissolve the barriers of suspicion that divide
    us from one another.
Fill us with your love that casts out fear.
Clothe us in your light and grace, that we may be agents
of hope and encouragement for those that despair and
  have lost their way.
Help us each to find our own particular way in which to
proclaim the good news of your saving love in our daily
    life and work.
We pray for our government and for our leaders at every
level of authority, that they may be strengthened to heal
the structures that bruise your people.
 God, hear our prayer.

Amen

God says …

Do not fear, for I am with you,
Do not be afraid, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you,
I will help you,
I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.
