Psalm 78
A Wisdom Psalm.
By telling God’s goodness and our frailty future
generations will remember and learn to trust God.
(Psalter)
Judges 7
Through the prophet Gideon, God toys with the lack
of faith to conquer the major army of the Midianites;
God reduces the army several times to 300 hundred
(in almost humorous ways) and unleashes God’s power
to allow Israel to win. (DE)
Acts 3
Prior to this reading, Peter with the only thing he has
to give - his faith in Jesus Christ - heals a man who is
lame and begs in the Temple. The healed response is
waking and leaping and praising God. Today Peter preaches
telling the whole of salvation history that Jesus is the
Messiah told of from Moses and the prophet.
So now is the time for you to turn from your ways
and get a relationship with God.
John 3
The forebearer, John the Baptist, is asked if he i
s the Messiah? I am not but I have been sent ahead of him.
The Messiah comes from God above to speak the true
words of God and give out the Spirit without regard
or measure. Those that believe will have eternal life.
Thoughts:
Gideon shows us God’s movement in the world will be done regardless of the number of people trying to implement it. God’s Kingdom has come already … God’s will is done.
Peter shows us that it only takes faith and one person to change lives and impact people.
John tells us we still do God’s work as we are called to do, not what we think we should do and be content in that calling.
