Second Week of Epiphany
Bible in Time: New Testament Study
Day 14
The year that we are studying |
41 - 43 CE/ad
Today: Acts 11 | Revo. pp. 61 - 65
Monday, 25 Jan 2021: Acts 12 | Revo. pp. 67 - 69
Prayer Suggestion:
Almighty God, Father of all mercies,
we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness
to us and to all whom you have made. We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages. Amen.

Dear Friends in Christ,
Edwards Key points -
The years are 41 - 43 CE
Agrippa is of King of all Israel.
Caligula (Rome) is assassinated and Claudius takes over (41-54 CE)
Peter reports salvation coming to the Gentiles
Antioch church is born, Barnabas is sent, Paul is requited with him to serve this non-Jewish/Gentile Christian community.
My Thoughts-
Peter is called for being a hypocrite for ignoring Gentile Christians when Jewish Christians were around.
The church expands because of persecution.
Barnabas recruits Paul to serve also in Antioch - Gentile church.
Prophets say there is going to be a famine throughout the Roman Empire.
Antioch is where the “Christians” term is first used.
The first church fundraising drive for the famine and Barnabas and Paul are involved.
How do you financially support your community of faith?
In Christ,
Dave Eitland
