Day 49 - Paul Continues in Corith

Prayer Suggestion |

Almighty God, whom truly to know is
everlasting life: Grant us so perfectly
to know your Son Jesus Christ to be the
way, the truth, and the life, that we may
steadfastly follow his steps in the way
that leads to eternal life; through
Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who
lives and reigns with you, in the unity
of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever
and ever. Amen.

Edwards insights for Today’s Reading-

  • 5 years of time with Paul

  • Paul in Corinth for 4 months before

writing 2 Thessalonians

  • Paul’s mission was to train new leaders
and plant a church in Rome without being
    there

  • In Rome, Claudius is wondering about
    the future leadership of Nero

  • Uprising in Jerusalem

  • Year 53 - Corinth is filling with Jews that
Were thrown out of Rome and making
    Paul’s ministry more difficult.

  • Paul arrived in Corinth in November 51 and
left May 53 being there for 18 months.

  • Paul has founded 8 churches on his own.

My Thoughts on Today’s Session -

Using NOAB5 per below |
Notes pp. 1990 - 1993

Paul in Corinth is establishing finally
moving toward a Gentile ministry as
the Jewish faithful continually reject
the Way of Jesus. (The leader of the
synagogue is an exception where he
and his family are baptized.) The Jewish
community takes Paul before Gallio
who dismisses the charges. Christianity
is NOT a concern of Rome with views
from outwardly favorable (Cornelius)
to not (Sergius Paulus).

The third missionary journey begins
with Paul completing a Nazirite vow
as he journeys through Asia.

There is a mention of Apollos teaching
about Jesus. His teaching is corrected
by Priscilla and Aquila about the baptism
of the Holy Spirit vs the one of John.

His ministry is enhanced by the
receiving of the Holy Spirit.

Paul has a fruitful ministry in Corinth
until he moves on. Even the evil spirits
that are cast out recognize Paul (19:13-17).
Everyone was awe-struck at the miracles
God did through Paul. Magic is disavowed.

The core of the Church is love and
forgiveness as given by the Holy Spirit.

Invite your friends to our journey.
Happy Eastertide!

In Christ,
