Day 66 - Ministers and What They Are Due

Prayer Suggestion

Eternal God,

you called ministers and leaders to proclaim your glory in a life of prayer and pastoral zeal:

keep the leaders of your Church faithful

and bless your people through their ministry, that the Church may grow into the full stature of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen

Reflection Today’s Reading -

Dear Friends in Christ,

In this chapter, Paul talks about getting
paid for the work you do fairly even when
your a preacher/pastor/minister.

Although Paul does not take some of the
rights, privileges, and benefits of being a minister, he notes all doing the work of
the gospel should be paid what is due to them.

Paul offers his argument in a classic defense of actions and what is due to those that do the hard work of the gospel. Does not military, farmers and shepherds get the benefit of their work? Why - because it is God’s will from the time of Moses.

Paul reserves the right to take the benefits as he wants to with no reflection of what is due to him and others in ministry.

Paul is entrusted with a commission from God and made himself a slave for all in order to win more for the gospel. (vs 19)

Look at Paul’s work record and he thinks he should get what he has earned for the sake of the Gospel.

Bless us all for those who work to advance God in the desperate world.

Blessings,
