This year's blog will focus on discernment or seeking the work that God wants you to do after you say, "I believe". This is also known as discipleship or learning through God - Creator, Christ, and the One with us - what God is calling us to do in this world.

Basically through prayer, reflection, listening, and being with a faith community finding out what God wants you to do and then doing it with God and the aforementioned.

So it will be writings, sermons, prayers, bible study, and tidbits that hit me about this path and the way we are on. (See an example of this kind of seeking in the movie "The Way" with Martin Sheen. See Facebook postings or Google it.)

So this blog might look more like a scrapbook of musings than a coherent formation of a study of spirituality. But it will be spiritual.

I live in America and we are currently going through a massive transition of thought and meaning. This is not only by individual encounters but in all levels of our interaction with each other including our neighborhood, state/province, nation, and world to the galaxies and the universe.

For people of faith, this is a critical time for rethinking what God wants us to do without "making the baby Jesus cry" in our real and electronic interactions (Interweb as my daughter calls it...) to make the world a better place. How do we bring hope, justice, and love to our individual worlds today?

These postings are my reflections influenced by my background and faith. Sources will be quoted.

May we be blessed as we journey with Jesus.

May God be with you.

Sincerely,

Dave Eitland

Let us pray …

Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written

for our learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn,

and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and ever hold

fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have

given us in our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with

you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

(Book of Common Prayer, Proper 28)
